John and Karen have owned horses for over twenty years, and enjoyed horseback riding even longer! They moved to Howell Michigan, in Livingston County in 1998. John began horseback riding western. He joined Karen on yet another trip to a new training barn in South Lyon at Ferris Farms. Fred, the trainer, would explain the mechanics of the horse and why the aids had to be applied precisely. Karen went on and off, but John continued lessons on how to train horse and train rider nearly every week for the next 10 years. John would then return to Macs Meadows and apply the principals he had learned to his own horses. The training centered on Hunter/Jumper, but had plenty of Dressage with a touch of Western. The two young ladies in the middle are the original Mac’s Meadows students. Kelsey Ledwith, our niece on the left, and Jessica Neumarier, on the right. John started giving horseback riding lessons ten years ago. Kelsey still rides for and works at Mac’s Meadows. Jessica now lives on a horse farm in Niles Michigan. We look forward to enriching your horseback riding experience!
